Vivek brings a thoughtful, solutions-oriented approach to the issues that matter most to Redmond residents and businesses. He understands that a strong local economy depends on getting the basics right: Safe streets, reliable power, efficient transportation, and a permitting process that works. As a member of Redmond’s Human Services Commission and a longtime community advocate, Vivek has the experience and perspective to make progress where it counts.
On infrastructure, he’s made it clear that Redmond can’t afford to fall behind. He’s focused on repaving deteriorating streets, upgrading critical power systems, and investing in the essential services that businesses and families rely on every day.
Vivek also understands that the housing crisis is holding our region back. He supports a broader mix of housing types, from duplexes to senior housing, and wants to speed up permitting so good projects don’t get stuck in costly delays. He’s open to using tools like municipal bonds and public-private partnerships to make affordable housing a reality, without slowing down supply.
Throughout his campaign, Vivek has emphasized the importance of building a business-friendly city. That means streamlining city processes, improving infrastructure, and ensuring small businesses have a clear voice in local decisions. He sees local businesses not just as storefronts, but as employers, neighbors, and key partners in Redmond’s future.
Vivek is also a strong advocate for data-driven governance. He believes every public dollar should deliver measurable results and is committed to holding government programs accountable with clear metrics and outcomes.
Though young, Vivek has an engaging energy for the job. While he is undeniably progressive, he has expressed a strong belief in following data to inform decision-making. The city of Redmond has fumbled in some of its recent decisions around housing policy. In particular, they now charge hundreds of thousands of dollars in fees and additional costs to build just one unit of housing. This and similar policies that drive up the cost of producing housing has taken Redmond from a model jurisdiction for housing growth to one that housing providers are actively fleeing.
For these reasons we ask Redmond voters to give Vivek Prakriya an opportunity to demonstrate his ability to help right the ship.
