Reagan Dunn has been a steadfast champion for public safety, fiscal responsibility, and effective governance throughout his service on the King County Council. With a career grounded in justice—as a former federal prosecutor and co-author of President George W. Bush’s Project Safe Neighborhoods—Reagan has consistently fought to protect our communities. His efforts have resulted in significant public safety investments, including a $90 million annual increase in funding for the Sheriff’s Office to restore critical programs and specialized law enforcement units. 
 
A fiscal conservative, Reagan has remained committed to responsible budgeting and being skeptical of tax increases. He has worked to keep King County financially stable while ensuring that essential services are provided, striking a balance between safeguarding taxpayers and addressing the region’s needs. His principled approach reflects a deep understanding of both short-term priorities and long-term fiscal health. 
 
Reagan's leadership is well-suited to his evolving district, which has grown from rural roots into a dynamic, suburban, and diverse community. As Vice Chair of the Council and Chair of King County Flood Control District he has successfully addressed the unique challenges of his constituency. His ability to unite leaders across the region is evident in the endorsements of mayors from Bellevue, Black Diamond, Covington, Enumclaw, Kent, Issaquah, Maple Valley, Newcastle, Issaquah and Renton. 
 
Beyond public safety and fiscal stewardship, Reagan brings a compassionate perspective to public service. As a recovering alcoholic, he has channeled his personal experience into innovative initiatives to combat substance use disorders. He has championed groundbreaking measures such as protecting the confidentiality of recovery communications between sponsors and sponsees. Reagan also founded King County’s annual addiction recovery conference, an influential platform for promoting policies and solutions to the region’s growing substance use crisis.
