Fred was first elected in 2015, and quickly made an effort to expand the Commission office to enable faster, more responsive policies. Ever since his initial election, he has upheld his values and prioritized increasing Port efficiencies and enabling transparency.
His emphasis on retaining the Port’s competitive advantage is indicative of his incumbency, especially with his recent election to the US Department of Commerce’s Travel and Tourism Advisory Board.
Fred earned his Master’s of Science in Fisheries Biology from the University of Washington, and has lived in Ballard for the past 30 years. He knows the community and the industry well, proving to be a strong ally of the Eastside Business Alliance.
Some of his accomplishments that have directly contributed to expanding of the Port economy include completing the construction of Phase 1 of Terminal 5, opening a new and expanded International Arrivals Facility at SeaTac Airport, improving Fisherman’s Terminal facilities, and homeporting the most cruise sailings in Port history. His contributions have not gone unnoticed, and he will make for a strong Port Commissioner once again.
