Having steered the City of Redmond through the pandemic, incumbent Angela Birney has plenty of tangible examples to point to when asked how she has been a good leader. For this reason — among others we will detail — the Eastside Business Alliance strongly endorses Birney for a second term as Redmond’s Mayor.

An advocate for sustainable growth and a governing committee member of KCHRA, Birney has a balanced nature about her, which when paired with her solutions-first governance and embrace of diversity, create a well-rounded individual fully capable of tackling local and regional issues. She is woefully aware of the changing climate around affordability and sustainability in the region, and instead of cowering to uncertainty, has helped launch many-a-workgroup to get things done.

During her tenure, Birney has served on commissions and committees in many areas — including transportation, human services, utilities, and health — and has fostered long-lasting relationships with other Eastside leaders and organizations.
