Throughout his career, Mark has been deeply committed to listening, engaging, and responding to the needs of the people he serves. His leadership in the Washington State Senate, where he was Vice Chair of the Senate Ways & Means Committee and led the capital budget team, reflects his ability to get things done. He has successfully driven investments that have transformed our region—funding critical infrastructure like the SR 18 and I-90 interchange, enhancing affordable housing, expanding healthcare, improving schools, and creating thousands of local jobs. Mark’s proven talent for building bridges between diverse perspectives has made him one of our most effective and respected leaders.

Beyond his impressive public service, Mark understands the challenges of running a business firsthand. As the owner of a Zeeks Pizza and four Ben & Jerry’s shops, he knows what it takes to balance budgets, manage teams, and create jobs. This perspective uniquely equips him to advocate for the vitality of our local businesses.

Mark’s roots in Issaquah run deep, having served on the City Council from 2009 to 2013. His love for this community is reflected in his relentless commitment to making Issaquah a vibrant, inclusive place where everyone can thrive.
