Valerie O'Halloran

Renton

Position: 3

Upon lengthy discussions with Valerie, it is clear that her focus during this next term will be keeping Renton affordable, accessible, and vibrant for all. She is committed to the comprehensive planning process, and has experience encouraging regional collaboration while managing Renton’s housing and economic growth.

One of her top priorities during her previous bout as Councilmember was enhancing public safety, while working with regional partners to better serve those experiencing homelessness. She also helped Renton update its city-wide Clean Economy Strategy that promotes local policies and practices to help Renton prepare for the negative impacts of climate change.

Impressively, she has also earned the trust of her council peers, being voted 2023 Council President despite this being only her fourth year in office.

Over the course of her 30-year business career in finance, Valerie held positions of increasing responsibility in the fields of accounting, financial analysis, and process improvement, and this perspective proved to be invaluable when positioning Renton to recover from the pandemic downturn. She is a trusted, pragmatic voice on the Renton City Council, and we hope to see it stay that way.
